The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development in Kathmandu has issued a statement on the recent controversy on the rate of glacial melting. In 2007, the UN' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a report called AR4. The report repeated a claim made by Professor Syed Hasnain in 1999, published in New Scientist magazine, in the UK, that glaciers in the Himalaya, would melt completely by 2035.

The State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping indicated that they're on target to complete 100 digital cities nationwide in 2010, pushing the completion of the digital China geospatial framework. Since the launch of the program in 2006, 78 cities have been involved in the program. The Digital Taiyuan Geographic Information Public Platform has been launched as an example of the typical model, with the ability for citizens to visit tourist attractions, business centers, cultural landmarks, and even small street scenes from their computers.

When Cyclone Magda made landfall from Collier Bay at around 5 a.m. local time on January 22 in northern Australia, NASA's Terra satellite captured an image of the storm. Magda is now dissipating rapidly over land in northern West Australia.
