Innovative Mapping Solutions has installed a TerraSAR-X ground station at the Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency in Kuala Lumpur. Nikolaus Faller, the chief operations officer of Infoterra GmbH, which owns the satellite, handed the access key to Nik Mazlina Nik Mustapha, the head of Remote Sensing Data Services at MRSA, on 4 December.

An unofficial delegation of Tibetans, the first to attend UN climate talks, said Tuesday that global warming and China's environmental policies threatened Himalayan glaciers providing water to more than a billion people. Tibet, the world's largest and highest plateau, is often called the 'third pole' because it stores more freshwater in the form of glaciers than any region on Earth except the North and South poles.

With the launch of SuperPad 3 on 15 DEcember, SuperGeo plans to adjust its price structure to reflect the diversity of its markets.

Australian based Otto Energy Ltd. reported on Wednesday that it will be commencing three-dimensional seismic data acquisition program over 9,000 square km in the south west Palawan Basin off the Philippines. The company said it will start the data gathering on 590 sq. km of its oil block. In a statement, Otto said a seismic vessel was scheduled to arrive in the survey area on 14 December.

This will be on 27-28 May in Bishkek in the Kyrgyz Republic. The main theme this year is water.

The presentations from the plenary sessions of the 23 meeting of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites are now available. CEOS 23 was held 3-6 November, 2009 in Phuket, Thailand. The presentations are supplemented with the CEOS Deliverables for 2009‐2010, the 2009 CEOS Work Plan (29 May 2009) and the CEOS Implementation Plan for Space-based Observations for GEOSS.

Trimble has upgraded its entire portfolio of mapping and GIS field and office software products with new software to allow Glonass reception, and a new processing engine called DeltaPhase. With DeltaPhase in place, results from Trimble's existing range show 50 cm accuracy in good environments.

SuperGeo Technologies has released SuperGIS DataRectifier 3 for SuperGIS 3. It is a set of data rectification tools for vector and raster layers. Users can rectify a vector or raster reference layer with correct geodetic coordinates. It is also possible to use offset coordinates caused by some special factor.

Magellan Professional has released the MobileMapper 6 GPSDifferential module for the DigiTerra Explorer 6 software application. The company says the module enables users to achieve sub-metre mapping, even where real-time corrections are not available. It logs the raw data from the receiver that is required for post-processed differential corrections. This data can be post-processed using MobileMapper 6 Office.

Surveylab’s ikeGPS range now supports data collection software for mine action created by the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD). The product’s remote capture capability allows field staff to complete data collection tasks from outside hazardous zone. It combines a GPS, a laser rangefinder and a compass. The data collection software is a component of the larger GICHD-developed Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA) suite.
