International LiDAR Mapping Forum 2016 Program Announced

December 2, 2015 (Portland, Maine, USA) — Event organizers announced The International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF) 2016 Conference Program today, which can be viewed online here. The 16th edition of the technical conference and expo, taking place February 22-24, 2016 in Denver, Colorado, will focus on the latest airborne, terrestrial and underwater LiDAR as well as emerging remote-sensing and data collection tools and technology used for applications including Asset Management; Civil Infrastructure; Coastal Zone Mapping; Emergency Services & Disaster Response; Land and Natural Resource Management; and Urban Modeling.

The ILMF 2016 Program is comprised of more than 60 presentations, with world-leading experts discussing latest linear LiDAR advances and applications, as well as new and complementary technologies, including Single Photon Counting, FLASH, and Geiger-Mode.  The program also features important considerations such as data fusion/integration, point cloud extraction, UAV/UAS integration and comparisons of data collection methods for a range of applications.

The program begins with a series of vendor product previews to update delegates on the latest advances in LIDAR and complementary solutions for precision measurement. The conference will conclude with an hour-long panel on “Game-Changing Technologies on the Horizon” in which experts discuss and debate the technologies that show potential to  both complement and potentially disrupt current technologies and practices.

Keynote Address by Woods Hole Oceanographer David Gallo

David Gallo, Oceanographer and Director of Special Projects at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, will deliver the keynote presentation Beyond Titanic: The Pursuit of Tactical Oceanography. The presentation will use RMS TITANIC as an example of multi sensor seafloor mapping and will discuss recent advances in the ability to produce truly tactical oceanographic information.

Dave was one of the first scientists to combine robots and submarines to explore the deep seafloor. His TED presentation “Underwater Astonishments” has attracted 11 million views, placing it among the top ten most-downloaded. He is a member of James Cameron’s Deep Ocean Task Force and a 2014 recipient of the Explorers Club Lowell Thomas medal.

Exhibition

The exhibit floor will have more than 60 leading technology, software and service providers from around the world. Exhibitors include airborne, terrestrial and bathymetric LiDAR, complementary solutions providers, sensor manufacturers, service providers, data processing, GIS, UAV/UAS suppliers and more. The current exhibitor list can be viewed here. For the second consecutive year, the exhibit floor will have a UAV/UAS pavilion to arm delegates with insight into the growing UAV/UAS market and the opportunities this presents for aerial LiDAR professionals.

Registration

Early-bird registration ends January 31, 2016. Interested parties are encouraged to register early to save $165. Registration is available online here.
