NS Groep N.V. to Deploy Real-Time Diagnostic System from Trimble Company, Trimble Railway Limited

SUNNYVALE, Calif.  — Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that NS Groep N.V. (NS), the Dutch state-owned rail company, will be deploying the Trimble® R2M real-time remote diagnostics monitoring system. As a core component of NS’ overall real-time monitoring architecture, the system allows railway operators to streamline maintenance costs and provide efficiencies across their fleet by automating manual tasks.

This latest NS project further expands Trimble Railway Limited’s footprint across Europe. NS in the Netherlands will join a growing number of large rail operators that have implemented Trimble solutions including South West Trains in the UK, Irish Rail, SNCF France, SBB Switzerland, VR Finland and others.

Trimble R2M processes diagnostic data from rail vehicles in real time. It provides a comprehensive view of the overall fleet’s status including specific vehicle faults. The system also identifies potential faults that may arise while analyzing and detecting anomalies in on-vehicle component behavior to identify component health and the possible impact this behavior may have on the vehicle and overall fleet.

With the Trimble R2M software, NS will be able to aggregate data from a range of on-train and wayside sources and provide real-time information to the NS Train Helpdesk to monitor the fleet status. Information will also be available to Fleet Analysts, Work Planning Engineers and Mechanics to support the operational repair process of NS in real time. It will enable users to prioritize actions based on the flow of incoming data and provide a detailed overview to users dealing with large numbers of incoming alerts and support the repair process with real-time information on mobile devices.

“After a comprehensive tender evaluation process, Trimble Railway Limited was a clear winner for us,” said Falco Mooren, NS project manager for Real Time Monitoring. “Their rail industry experience and real-time monitoring solutions are extremely impressive and we look forward to partnering with them to implement the system to improve service for our passengers.”

“Our fundamental focus is to provide solutions that drive agility, improve efficiency and provide better visibility into railway operations to maximize productivity,” said John O’Sullivan, managing director of Trimble Railway Limited. “We are pleased to have been selected as NS’ solution provider and we look forward to working with NS to assist them in achieving their key objectives and supporting their vision for the future.”
